New Treatment Program: “COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effects Acupuncture Treatment Protocol” (CVSE-Protocol)

The CVSE-Protocol is an acupuncture treatment protocol designed by Dr. Jane Tong Delore to help people recover from the vaccine common side effects sooner.

March 1, 2021

We have been fighting for the COVID-19 pandemic battle for over a year now. The vaccines are the answer to many of our prayers.

The CDC and the public health authorities are urging everyone to get the vaccines when they are available.

Certain side effects are expected after receiving the COVID-19 vaccines; and the severity of these side effect symptoms vary in individuals. Some people do not experience any side effects, whereas others may have flu-like symptoms, and rarely does someone experience serious allergic reactions.

Common side effects include injection site arm soreness, feverish, headaches, body aches (muscle and joint pain), fatigue, and thirst.

I have found that acupuncture treatment is helpful to subside these common side effect symptoms quickly and effectively, therefore I designed a protocol that is focused on treating the side effects from the COVID-19 vaccines.

I would like to provide this treatment protocol to more people who experience the side effects, help them recover faster, and at the same time, I want to take this opportunity to conduct a study to collect data to support the effectiveness of this protocol, the "COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effects Acupuncture Treatment Protocol (CVSE-protocol).

For a limited time, the cost of the CVSE-protocol treatment is $50 (up to two treatments if necessary). If patient agrees to participate in the study by answering a few questionnaires (before and after the treatment), they will receive a $15 off a follow up cupping session (regular price $65). And $10 coupon towards future treatment of any referred patient who participated fully in the study. Please note that discounts and coupons cannot be used towards any insurance copay, deductible or co-insurance. Patients are required to show the official original CDC COVID-19 vaccination card and ID for verification in order to participate in this special program.

Patients are encouraged to book their appointment on the day after the vaccine injection. Appointment can be made online. Complete the new patient intake form before coming to the appointment. Same day appointment is possible, but no walk-in allowed.

Description of the treatment:

The CVSE-protocol is a set of acupuncture points designed to treat the common side-effects after receiving the COVID-19 vaccines. These common side effect symptoms include fever, headache, body aches, general muscle and joint pain, fatigue, and injection site arm soreness. The protocol has a set of 24 acupuncture points. Some people may need fewer but not more than the designated 24 points. Treatment session is about 45 minutes and the needle retention time is about 30 minutes. Patient will have their own individual treatment room that is equipped with a massage table, two infrared lights, and ultra violet light air filter.

All high-touched areas in the rooms are sanitized with 70% isopropyl alcohol in between treatments. Each room has an UV air filter. Patients are required to wear a protective mask throughout the treatment and use hand-sanitizer upon arrival and before departure. No-touch payment methods are encouraged.

We protect patients' privacy. All information will be kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of our clinic. Data collected for the purpose of the study does not reveal patient identity. Patients who participate in the study will agree to allow us to release the collected data to the public and such data does not contain their names and identity.

The purpose of the study is to establish evidence-based information to support acupuncture treatment efficacy. My hope is to find meaningful data to further support the utility of acupuncture treatments as alternative non-opioid treatments for pain and anxiety.

My background:

I completed the doctorate degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine (DAOM) at Five Branches University in San Jose. During the academic tenure at the doctorate program, my study focus was to investigate the effects of acupuncture treatments for opioid and alcohol addictions. Although acupuncture has been widely used as a supportive treatment for opioid rehabilitation programs in China and the U.S., there is still not enough scientific evidence to establish a protocol to treat addictions. Acupuncture has been studied to treat specific symptoms effectively. More research and studies are much needed to support the efficacy of this science in order to share the benefits widely. I hope you could be part of this meaningful journey to experience the benefit of acupuncture and help pave the way for our bright future. I sincerely thank you in advance for your support and look forward to working together on this study.
